Salam on the Prophet (PBUH) out loud as a group after every Salah

Question: Is it permissible to send salam on the Prophet (PBUH) out loud as a group after every Salah, especially after Jumu’ah?

Praise be to Allah

Summary:
Sending salutations (salat and salam) upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is highly recommended, especially on Fridays. However, performing this as a loud, congregational chant after each Salah is not supported by any authentic Hadith. The Prophet and his companions did not practice group salutations in this way, so scholars regard this as an innovation (Bid’ah).

Detailed Answer:
Islam encourages Muslims to send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), particularly on Fridays, as he said, “Send blessings upon me frequently on Friday.” (Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 1047). However, organizing this as a group chant after Salah lacks a basis in the Sunnah. In a general directive about worship practices, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cautioned, “Whoever introduces into this affair of ours (Islam) something that is not from it, it is rejected.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 2697; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1718).

For this reason, group chanting of salutations immediately after Salah is not a Sunnah, and it is advised to keep such practices as individual acts of devotion rather than organized rituals.

And Allah Knows Best
